Shoktel Kartington

Shoktel Kartington, conservationist extraordinaire, was created by Kartel Shockington in 2022 and has failed to live up to his own high standards ever since. Amongst his many achievements is that he is the sole author of one of the most extraordinary letters in the history of Science.

Kartel Shockington is composed of Kartik Shanker and Dan Brockington. Dan and Kartik are themselves fantasy projections of an idle teenager with a curious skin condition. But no one has had the heart to tell them yet.

Saket Ghaisas is an animator and illustrator currently based in Goa.

Maya Munstermann

Maya Munstermann is currently a PhD student at Florida State University studying the impact of marine heat waves, increasing ocean temperatures, and acidification on kelp forest habitats and biodiversity.

Dr Abbey Camaclang is a Research Associate at The University of British Columbia. She works on developing and applying decision tools to inform conservation policy and management.

Victoria Hemming

Dr Victoria Hemming is a Posdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of British Columbia. She develops and applies methods to help inform decisions (primarily for conservation). 

 

Shruti Sengupta

Shruti Sengupta is a biologist interested in reptiles and amphibians. She is currently working as a senior researcher in IISc. Her artworks are inspired by the work she does in the field and lab.

Robyn Hewson

Robyn is a keen proponent of food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture. She stayed at Navdanya in 2020 to learn traditional Indian organic farming. She is based in Australia.

Preeti Virkar

Preeti is a Bee Ecologist interested in bees since a young age. She is based in India and is passionate about native wild bee conservation and public outreach.

Dhee

Dhee is a researcher interested in the human dimensions of wildlife conservation, specifically the psychological and socio-cultural factors that shape people’s perceptions towards wild animals. She is curious about human-wildlife entanglements and how they shape and get shaped by stories, social institutions, cultures and histories. She has a Masters in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent and a Bachelors in Psychology from Ambedkar University, Delhi. Presently she is a social science research consultant with Wildlife Conservation Society – India. 

Mrunmayee Amarnath

Mrunmayee is a wildlife conservationist and a graduate in MPhil in Conservation Leadership at the University of Cambridge. She has worked in the Western Ghats of India addressing wildlife conservation challenges in the Bhadra Kudremukh landscape. She is currently working with Fauna & Flora International in the UK and focusing on how finance and business models can be used as tools to address conservation challenges in developing countries.

Aina Brias-Guinart

Aina Brias-Guinart is a doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki on the field of biodiversity conservation. Her current focus is on environmental education in Madagascar.

Sloka Bhushan

Sloka Bhushan is a physics student who takes an interest in reading and writing about animals from a scientific perspective.

Prashant Mahajan

Prashant Mahajan holds a Master’s degree in Wildlife Sciences from Aligarh Muslim University and is a graduate in Zoology from Delhi University. He has worked on the ecology of wolves in Rajasthan and was part of the research team of the “All India Tiger Monitoring” project with the Wildlife Institute of India (WII). Currently, he is a Project Fellow at WII. His primary area of interest lies in prey-predator interactions, large carnivore ecology, and human-wildlife conflict. A wildlife enthusiast who often expresses his field visit experiences through his writing and his blog (https://lifeofawild.wordpress.com/), he has been published in several wildlife and conservation magazines.

Emma Cartledge is a PhD student at the University of Liverpool. She studies hazel dormouse conservation in England, including reintroductions and non-invasive monitoring methods.

Matthias Biber

Matthias Biber is currently a PhD student at the Technical University of Munich. In his research, he investigates climate and land-use effects on global biodiversity and nature conservation.

Rebecca L. Lewison 

Rebecca L. Lewison  an applied conservation ecologist, developing actionable science  in service of resource and land use management. She is the Co-Director of San Diego State University’s Institute for Ecological Monitoring and Management and a Professor in the Biology Department at San Diego State University.

Megan M. Jennings

Megan M. Jennings conducts research that informs conservation and management planning in terrestrial systems, specially incorporating landscape dynamics into connectivity planning. She is the Co-Director of San Diego State University’s Institute for Ecological Monitoring and Management.

Isabel M. Rojas

Isabel M. Rojas studies applied landscape ecology to advance conservation and sustainability. She is an Assistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

Shivangi Pant

I am a visual communicator, designer and a storyteller, working towards disseminating information and stories sensitively. Currently, I am exploring what art can do for nature conservation. Growing up in a valley, I always had a close connection with nature which taught me a lot about the relationships people share with the natural world. While doing my postgraduate degree in design from Srishti institute of art, design and technology I worked on effectively combining my love for art with my growing interest in wildlife and the environment. Since then I have dedicated my career towards working at the intersection of art and conservation. As a Managing Editor (Art and design) at Current conservation I hope to further this journey and effectively communicate science through art and design.
